The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts has announced additional programming for the inaugural 2014-2015 season. With a wide range of shows that include performances of theater, dance, popular music and family entertainment, the Dr. Phillips Center brings the best of national and international talent to Central Florida, which reflects the vision of Arts For Every Life.
"Our board of directors and team are proud to present the "first look" of our diverse and acclaimed programming for our inaugural season," says Kathy Ramsberger, President of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. "The broad variety of performing and recording artists that we will offer this year will be inviting, inclusive and new to our region. In addition to the previously announced Broadway and Orlando Ballet seasons that will take place at the Walt Disney Theater, the Dr. Phillips Center announces the highly acclaimed JAZZ ROOTS - A Larry Rosen Jazz Series, presented in part by Morgan Stanley, which begins in November 2014. The concert and educational Jazz series includes GEORGIA ON MY MIND: Celebrating Ray Charles, PINK PANTHER 50: Tribute to Henry Mancini, AN EVENING WITH CHRIS BOTTI and A NIGHT IN RIO.
It's Snowtime in Orlando, as the international phenomenon Slava's Snowshow premieres at the Dr. Phillips Center for a limited two-week engagement. See what MTV calls " A spectacular show that leaves you spellbound!" The deeply imaginative Slava, who draws on the vaudeville approach grounded in the innocence of discovery, takes his audience on a dreamlike journey reconnecting them with their inner child. The show is a truly magical experience combining clowning and spectacular visuals culminating in a snowstorm that envelops the audience that is sure to leave them with chills of excitement. Slava is a breathtaking theatrical experience full of vibrant images, delightful comedy, enchanting music, and of course lots of snow. Following sold-out engagements around the world, including Barcelona, London, New York, Buenos Aires and Madrid, the critically acclaimed show makes its Orlando debut February 16 - 28, 2015.
On November 29, 2014, the Dr. Phillips Center invites you to journey with Clare through her enchanting dream as she travels with the Chocolate Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy to the Kingdom of Toys in Clare and the Chocolate Nutcracker. Filled with dazzling costumes, lavish set designs and exciting dance, this original adaptation of the popular classical ballet will thrill audiences of all ages.
On April 4, 2015, the Dr. Phillips Center will feature the modern dance company Pilobolus. This internationally renowned dance company, founded in 1971, continually strives to break down barriers between dance disciplines and challenge the audience's ideas about dance. The award- winning production engages and inspires audiences through incredible feats of dance, physical strength and choreography. Hailed by Newsday as "...a mind blowing troupe of wildly creative and physically daring dancers who leap, fly, intertwine and break all the rules," Pilobolus has been seen by more than half a million people around the world and has been featured at the 79th Annual Academy Awards, on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Sesame Street, 60 Minutes and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
The Dr. Phillips Center will also bring the best in family entertainment to the Central Florida community in 2015. On February 14, 2015, Wild Kratts - Live!, an all-new theatrical stage show based on the hit children's animated series, will take the stage as the Emmy-nominated stars come to life and introduce the audience to amazing animals and their special Creature Powers. Next, join Buddy, Tiny, King, Don and more in Jim Henson's Dinosaur Train Live! Buddy's Big Adventure on May 10, 2015.
Based on the television show Dinosaur Train, this fun-filled, interactive show encourages basic scientific thinking skills as the audience learns about life, science, natural history and paleontology while on a trip back in time to an age when dinosaurs roamed the earth...and rode in trains!
In June 2015, Chugginton Live! The Great Rescue Adventure, based on the popular series on Disney Junior, comes to the Dr. Phillips Center. The action-packed stage show will thrill youngsters with fun, catchy music, adventure and trainloads of fun.
The Florida Blue Concert Series will include a performance by the U.S. Navy Band on Saturday, March 7, 2015. The free concert series playing the CNL Arts Plaza will also include performances by Tiempo Libre and Original Wailers among others (dates to be announced).
As part of the arts education program, the Dr. Phillips Center will host a school series for students. On January 15, 2015, The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare, presented by Corban and Lightwire Theater, will bring the beloved childhood tale to new and brilliant light with dazzling visuals, poignant choreography and creative use of music. The Mayhem Poets will bring their one- of-a-kind show to the Dr. Phillips Center on February 3, 2015. Hailed by The New York Times as "an amazing ride," these theater-trained, comically gifted, lyrical virtuosos seamlessly blend raw elements of hip-hop, theater, improv and stand-up comedy to tell gut-wrenching truths that leave audiences forever changed.
The Dr. Phillips Center will also bring celebrity speaker Alton Brown. Brown, celebrity chef and star of multiple Food Network television shows, will bring his fascinating and energetic Alton Brown Live! The Edible Inevitable Tour to the Dr. Phillips Center on February 7, 2015.

Tickets for individual shows will go on sale approximately six to eight weeks prior to the event. Dates, artists and programs are subject to change. Additional shows and Grand Opening activities will be announced at a later date.
