The Winter Park Playhouse shines with hits from the country classics songbook in their latest professional production, The Honky Tonk Angels, running May 11 through June 10, 2018. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Thursday and Saturday matinee performances at 2 p.m. and select Friday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
This highly entertaining musical by Ted Swindley, the creator of Always... Patsy Cline, follows the lives of three gutsy gals and their determination to follow their dreams to Nashville. The score features over 30 classic country tunes including "Stand By Your Man," "Coal Miner's Daughter," "Rocky Top," "I Will Always Love You" and many more!
The professional cast includes Winter Park Playhouse veteran Heather Alexander, returning performer Monica Titus and Playhouse newcomer Sara Jones. Playhouse Artistic Director Roy Alan will direct and choreograph the production and Christopher Leavy will music direct.
The Playhouse will boast five professional musicians to accompany the production - Musical Director Christopher Leavy on piano, Sam Forrest on percussion, Ned Wilkinson on guitars and banjo, Glen Goodwin on bass and Bo Frazer on fiddle and pedal steel guitar.
Ticket prices are $42 evenings, $39 senior evenings, $32 matinees, $20 preview, $15 student and theatrical industry professionals. Student rush "$10@10" offers $10 tickets (for students 25 years and younger) 10 minutes prior to a performance when seats are available.
