In 2013, Annie Baker's THE FLICK took the theatre world by storm, generating as many passionate detractors as fans during its initial Off-Broadway run. The show, which openly challenges theatrical conventions, recently returned to New York for a second critically-acclaimed run.

This week, Gen Y Productions brings the 2014 Pulitzer Prize-winner to The Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The show runs through July 12th. To purchase tickets, visit the Dr. Phillips Center's website, or call 1-844-513-2014.

Last week, I sat down with the show's three stars (Daniel Cooksley, Marcellis Cutler, and Jessica Hope Grossman) to chat about THE FLICK, their characters, and movies in general. Check out our conversation below.

Set in a rundown movie theater in central Massachusetts, THE FLICK tells the story of three underpaid employees who mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35 millimeter film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely tuned comic eye, THE FLICK is a hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.

Are you as excited to see the Florida premiere of this Pulitzer Prize-winner as I am? Let me know when you will be experiencing THE FLICK in the comments below, or by "Liking" and following BWW Orlando on Facebook and Twitter. You can also chat with me about the show on Twitter@BWWMatt.
