Omaha Performing Arts presents An Evening with David Sedaris in the Kiewit Hall at the Holland Performing Arts Center tonight, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Thursday, September 4, at 10 a.m. Tickets start at $48.75 and are available at TicketOmaha.com, 402.345.0606 or at the Ticket Omaha Office inside the Holland Center, 1200 Douglas St.
During An Evening with David Sedaris, the popular humorist will read from new and unpublished works, as well as hold a Q&A session and sign books. The Bookworm Omaha is proud to be the Official Bookseller for this event, who will be on site offering various selections of Sedaris' back catalog for purchase.
Sedaris is the author of Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, and his most recent book, Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, each of which became an immediate bestseller. The great skill with which he slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that Sedaris is a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today.
He is the author of the New York Times bestselling collection of fables titled Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary (with illustrations by Ian Falconer). He was also the editor of Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules: An Anthology of Outstanding Stories. Sedaris's pieces appear regularly in The New Yorker and have twice been included in "The Best American Essays." There are 7 million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into 25 languages.
Sedaris's original radio pieces can often be heard on the public radio show This American Life. He has been nominated for three Grammy Awards® for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album. His latest audio recording of new stories (recorded live) is David Sedaris: Live for Your
Listening Pleasure (November 2009). A feature film adaptation of his story C.O.G. was released after a premier at the Sundance Film Festival (2013).
