Pack your bags and step aboard Captain Braid Beard's ship, as acclaimed New York City playwright and director Rob Urbinati guest directs How I Became a Pirate, October 14-30 at The Rose Theater.

Adapted from the best-selling children's book by Melinda Long, this musical about a young boy who joins a team of rollicking treasure hunters is sure to please audiences. When Jeremy Jacobs's talent for building sand castles gets noticed by Captain Braid Beard, he sets out to help the pirates hide a treasure. But will he continue on his new life of pirate talk, sea songs and adventure when he begins to miss tuck-ins, bedtime stories, and soccer practice?

Audiences will be in for a treat as Rob Urbinati, Director of New Play Development at New York City's Queens Theater in the Park, brings his eye for detail to The Rose. Urbinati, who previously directed The Rose's production of Disney's High School Musical and Disney's High School Musical 2 has another crowd pleaser in store with Pirate.

Starting in October of 2012, The Rose Theater will tour its production of How I Became a Pirate to venues across the country as part of its annual national tour. How I Became a Pirate will be presented Oct. 14-30 on The Rose Theater's main stage with shows every Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and every Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. The show runs 60 minutes with no intermission and is recommended for children ages 4 to adult.

Tickets are $16 each and available at  The Rose box office located at 2001 Farnam Street Omaha, NE 68102 or by phone: (402) 345-4849 or visit: www.rosetheater.orgonline. Discount ticket vouchers may be purchased at any Omaha/Council Bluffs Hy-Vee customer service counter for $13 each.
