Omaha Performing Arts presents BackstagePass to the Hit Songwriters starring Maia Sharp and Jim Photoglo in the 1200 Club at the Holland Performing Arts Center's Scott RecitAl Hall on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Audiences might not recognize the names Maia Sharp and Jim Photoglo, but they already know and love their music.
Sharp and Photoglo are the songwriters behind some ofpop and country music's biggest hits like "Fishin' in the Dark" by Garth Brooks, "I Don't WantAnything To Change" by Bonnie Raitt, "You Give Me Love" by Faith Hill, and "A Home" byThe Dixie Chicks. During this intimate performance, Sharp and Photoglo will offer theaudience a unique opportunity to learn the story behind some of their favorite songs - a sneak peek into the songwriters' creative process, and a chance to discover a hit song's truemeaning, its intention and its journey to number one.In addition to their songwriting, both Sharp and Photoglo are accomplished solomusicians. Sharp regularly opens for Bonnie Raitt on tour and has recently released herfourth album, Echo, which heralds her ascension into the spotlight after being embraced byRaitt, Carole King, The Dixie Chicks, Art Garfunkel, Trisha Yearwood and others.
Photoglo also recently released two new solo albums - Fly Strait Home and Sparks In the Radio.Now in its fourth season, 1200 Club at the Holland transforms the Holland PerformingArts Center's most intimate venue, the Suzanne and Walter Scott RecitAl Hall, into a relaxedlounge where patrons can experience performances by national and internationally knownartists in folk, jazz, blues, world music and comedy. While enjoying the evening'sentertainment, audience members may order hors d'oeuvres and cocktails served right totheir table.
Tickets for Backstage Pass to the Hit Songwriters are $25 in advance and $30 theday of the show.
