The Rose Theater's Teens ‘N' Theater Young, Gifted, & Black performing troupe will present The Colored Museum February 17 and 21, 2010, in The Rose's Hitchcock Theater. Young, Gifted, &Black is an ensemble of African-American youth who explore issues by performing the works of great African-American Playwrights.

This year, Young, Gifted, & Black will mark its tenth season with a unique performance of The Colored Museum. Eleven vignettes electrify playwright George C. Wolfe's satire of what it is to be Black in America. Co-Directors Sheila Rocha and Ashley Hare chose the production to provide teens and audiences a look at cultural identities and racism through over-the-top comic invention. The result is an audacious experience that is the precursor to the Wayans brothers classic In Living Color, with a serious edge.

Teens ‘N' Theater performances are held in the intimate black-box Hitchcock Theater on the fourth floor of The Rose Theater. Performances will be offered Wednesday, February 17 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, February 21 at 4:30 p.m and 7 p.m. The production is recommended for ages 13 and up.

Tickets are $6 each and are available through The Rose Theater Box Office at (402) 345-4849. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Box Office, located at 2001 Farnam Street, in advance or the day of the show.

The Rose's 2009-2010 Teens ‘N' Theater season is sponsored by the Mammel Foundation and the Nebraska Arts Council. For more information visit www.rosetheater.org.
