The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) is announcing the 2012-13 season. 'FIND YOUR STAGE' is the new tagline and programming approach used to describe the upcoming season.
The Howard Drew Theatre season includes contemporary offerings that push the envelope, while the Howard and Rhonda Hawks Mainstage Theatre continues to offer more traditional entertainment. Audience members are encouraged to find one or both theatres that best suit their theatre preferences.
"The Howard Drew Theatre was conceptualized in the early 1980s to bring theatre experimentation and new works to audiences while allowing the Mainstage to focus on large, well-known productions," said Artistic Director Carl Beck. "We feel that the 'Find Your Stage' approach embraces the original visions of both theatres, all while more wholly fulfilling the OCP mission, 'We enrich our community through great theatre.' This season truly offers something for everyone, and we hope the community embraces it."
The decision to brand the two theatres separately came as a recommendation from Omaha marketing agency Bailey Lauerman after conducting brand research for OCP. The decision was also board approved.
