The Rose Theater winds up summer with its initial offering for the 2018-2019 season: JUDY MOODY & STINK: THE MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD TREASURE HUNT.
Based on Megan MacDonald's children's book series, JUDY MOODY & STINK is a mashup of "Judy Moody Was in a Mood," and "The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt." According to Rose Theatre Artistic Director, Matt Gutschick, a national collaboration of theaters worked together to collect proposals from playwrights to adapt the popular books for stage. Known for her work with youth theater, Allison Gregory won the right to write, so to speak. There are seven theaters performing this show as a "rolling premiere" though the spring of 2019.
Third grader Judy Moody is not content to present a boring school project "Me Collage." With the help of, or interference by, her younger brother, Stink, Judy uses her mind to reimagine her summer vacation. Judy and Stink work together as well as siblings can, to solve the mystery of Scurvy Sam's Secret Pirate Treasure.
You have three more chances to catch this show: Saturday, September 22 at 2:00 and 5:00, and Sunday, September 23 at 2:00.
