Friends of Lied Surpasses 1,000 Members Statewide

The Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced that the Friends of Lied organization has surpassed the milestone of more than 1,000 active members statewide.

For 23 years, the members of this this nonprofit statewide volunteer organization have committed time and talent to support and promote the Lied Center. Through fundraising and social events the Friends of Lied has provided more than $4 million to support Lied Center education and artistic programs. The support allows the Lied Center to keep ticket prices low and provide performing arts education and experiences to Nebraskans across the state. The Friends of Lied's extensive hours of volunteering and service has affected the Lied Center in more ways than one. Friends of LiEd Strongly supports Arts Across Nebraska, a statewide education and outreach program that tours Lied Center artists across the state, offering workshops and public performances for cultural enrichment.

"The Friends of Lied contributions to the Lied Center have been immeasurable," said Bill Stephan, executive director of the Lied Center. "I want to congratulate them on reaching an amazing milestone with over 1,000 members statewide and cannot thank them enough for the services and opportunities they have helped provide to the Lied over the past 23 years."

Each member plays a vital part in the success of the Lied and helps create amazing opportunities for Nebraskans to be educated, inspired, and entertained through the performing arts. With an 80-person board comprised of members across the state, the Friends of Lied serves as liaison for artistic experiences at the Lied. "Membership in Friends of Lied is truly rewarding as it makes you an integral part of Nebraska's Home for the Arts, where you can witness the arts creating magic and transforming lives," said Julie Jacobson, Friends of Lied president.

The semi-annual gala and Table Inspiration events are two of the organization's largest fundraising projects. This year, Friends of Lied will host the "Gracious Table" Table Inspiration event on April 17. The event will include local designers who have created beautifully arranged table settings to inspire home decor.

Interested individuals may join the Friends of Lied at a variety of donation levels, starting at $50. Membership lasts from June 1 to May 31 with varying opportunities to be recognized as a sponsor of an individual Lied event, exclusive backstage passes, invitations to private donor events with Lied artists and preferred seating.
