Broadway Dreams Foundation Holds More Auditions 3/20

A second set of auditions for the acclaimed BROADWAY DREAMS FOUNDATION (BDF) Summer Intensive in partnership with Omaha Performing Arts will be held Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Cassling Education Center at the Holland Performing Arts Center at 13th & Douglas streets.

Auditions to participate in the weeklong Summer Intensive workshop are free of charge and open to the public. Another set of auditions will be held June 4 and 5. Dance performers should bring dance shoes and attire; vocal performers will need to be prepared to sing 16 - 32 bars of a song and should provide their own accompaniment CD. For the second year, dreams will come true this summer for Omahans of all ages when Omaha Performing Arts partners with THE BROADWAY DREAMS FOUNDATION to present the weeklong Summer Intensive at the Holland Performing Arts Center Monday, July 11 through Sunday, July 17, 2011 and culminating in a performance on Saturday evening, July 16 at 8:00 p.m. in the Peter Kiewit Concert Hall at the Holland Center.

With the success of wildly popular television shows like "Glee" and blockbuster films like Hairspray and Fame, the world of musical theater is more popular than ever. THE BROADWAY DREAMS FOUNDATION (BDF), a national non-profit performing arts training program, teaches America's youth how to kick start their career with a one-of-a-kind performance workshop taught by Broadway's brightest stars. Tuition for the BDF Summer Intensive is $695 through June 1, 2011. After June 1, tuition is $795. Acceptance into the program is by application and audition only. A limited number of scholarships are available.

Attendees of the weeklong BDF Summer Intensive will receive first-rate training in acting, dance and vocal performance by savvy Broadway veterans who will share their invaluable insider knowledge on the skills needed to make it in show business. Students will also learn how to improve their audition skills (song selections and cold readings) and attend classes geared toward college and career planning (headshots and resumes). On Saturday evening, July 16, 2011, students will perform alongside these Broadway professionals in a performance at the Holland Center
On Saturday, March 19, 2011, Omaha Performing Arts and THE BROADWAY DREAMS FOUNDATION will hold "Triple Threat Extreme" from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. also in the Cassling Education Center at the Holland Performing Arts Center. The "Triple Threat Extreme" is a unique workshop where participants learn what it takes to make it as a professional singer, dancer and actor, honing their skills while learning from Broadway professionals.
