Hill House is shrouded in mystery and cut off from the outside world by its remote location, as well as by its sinister reputation. Dr. Montague, an investigator of the supernatural, rents the house and invites three guests to join him. All of these guests have personal reasons for accepting the invitation. The group is soon joined by others, each having a different reason to be there. The group becomes increasingly more involved in the supernatural and also in direct communication with departed spirits.

This play presents a chilling and mystifying study in mounting terror as the visitors begin to probe the secrets of the old house and to draw forth the mysterious powers that it is alleged to possess-powers which have brought madness and death to those who have lived there in the past.
