The BLUEBARN Theatre received a grant this week from The Shubert Foundation, Inc. in New York City. The Shubert Foundation is dedicated to sustaining and advancing the live performing arts in the United States, with a particular emphasis on theatre and a secondary focus on dance. In service of this mission, The Foundation provides general operating support to not-for-profit, professional resident theatre and dance companies across the country. "It is a big step forward for the BLUEBARN to be recognized as a professional company, and to be competitive within a national pool of grant applicants," said Shannon Walenta, Managing Director. BLUEBARN was eligible for funding based on its repertoire selection, budget size, and the commitment made in 2009 to begin paying a stipend to all of its actors.
