2016-17 Omaha Community Playhouse Awards Winners Announced

The Omaha Community Playhouse honored its top volunteers at the annual Awards Night ceremony held Monday evening. Awards Night is a tribute to the thousands of volunteers who contribute their time and talents to OCP. Awards are given for excellence in performing, for outstanding service in front-of-house and backstage areas and for community support.

The evening culminated with the presentation of the Fonda/McGuire Award to the male and female actors judged to have given the best performance of the season. The award is named for Henry Fonda and Dorothy McGuire, OCP's most eminent alumni.

Following is a complete list of award winners:

Fonda/McGuire Award for the most outstanding performance of the season

Female: Mackenzie Dehmer for her performance as Narrator in Murder Ballad

Male: Thomas Becker for his performance as Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird

Mary Peckham Award for a memorable performance in a feature role

Female Musical: Zhomontee Watson for her performance as Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act

Male Musical: TIM VALLIER for his performance as Beast/Prince in Beauty and the Beast

Female Play: Sydney Readman for her performance as Hallie Jackson in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

Male Play: Kevin Barratt for his performance as Arthur Przybyszewski in Superior Donuts

Barbara Ford Award for outstanding performance in a supporting role

Female Musical: DAWN BULLER-KIRKE for her performance as Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast

Male Musical: STEVE KRAMBECK for his performance as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast

Female Play: RUSHEAÁ SMITH-TURNER for her performance as Calpurnia in To Kill a Mockingbird

Male Play: JEREMY ESTILL for his performance as Luther Flynn in Superior Donuts

Elaine Jabenis Cameo Award for a memorable performance in a small role

Female Musical: Sally Neumann Scamfer for her performance as Sister Mary Lazarus in Sister Act

Male Musical: JOEY GALDA for his performance as Madame De La Grande Bouche in Beauty and the Beast

Female Play: Sue Mouttet for her performance as Florence Snyder in Leading Ladies

Male Play: BEN BECK for his performance as Actor 1 in Around the World in 80 Days

Bill Bailey Debut Award for outstanding performance in a first appearance on an OCP Stage

Female Musical: Mallory Vallier for her performance as Sherrie in Rock of Ages

Male Musical: David Ebke for his performance as Drew in Rock of Ages

Female Play: CATHERINE VAZQUEZ for her performance as Audrey in Leading Ladies

Male Play: Aaron Winston for his performance of Franco Wicks in Superior Donuts

Outstanding Youth Debut Award for outstanding performance in a first appearance on an OCP stage

Female Winner: ELLA COOMBS WALKER for her performance as Fan/Angel/Children's Ensemble in A Christmas Carol

Male Winner: JUDE GLASER for his performance as Walter Cunningham, Jr. in To Kill a Mockingbird

Outstanding Youth Award for the most outstanding performance by a youth in the season

Female Winner: Chloe Irwin for her performance as Jean Louise (Scout) Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird

Male Winner: DANNY DENENBERG for his performance as Jeremy (Jem) Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird

Charles Jones Award to recognize excellence in performance at the discretion of the directors

Winner: Leanne Hill Carlson, actor

Dick Boyd Award awarded periodically in recognition of exceptional contribution on stage

Winners: DON HARRIS and DON KEELAN-WHITE

Echo Ellick Award in recognition of outstanding backstage work

Winner: ANGELA LEUSCHEN, production crew member

Trustees' Award to recognize special distinguished service to the Omaha Community Playhouse

Winner: GEORGIANN REGAN, Omaha Community Playhouse Costume Designer, retiring after 23 years of service

Edward F. Owen Award for corporations, foundations and individuals whose partnership and contribution have nurtured and sustained ongoing development of OCP

Winners: GERRY AND BRUCE LAURITZEN, donors

Staff Awards in recognition of employment at OCP

JIM BOGGESS - Twenty years of service at OCP

DARRIN GOLDEN - Ten years of service at OCP
