Join the party at Lyric with the clever and bubbly musical, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE!

Running August 9 through 13 at the Civic Center Music Hall, the musical will star Tony Award nominee and Lyric favorite Emily Skinner as the title character and Martin Burke as the musical's host. In this farce, the audience will join the "man in chair" as he plays his favorite musical recording- THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. The audience sees the musical's characters come to life in a show within the show, and enjoys the man's asides and tidbits as he watches his favorite musical along with us.

"This cast is full of comedic geniuses, such as Emily Skinner, Martin Burke, Monte Riegel Wheeler, and Mandy Jiran," said producing artistic director Michael Baron. "Lyn Cramer, who is directing and choreographing this musical, is no stranger to comedy herself, and I know this show will shine under her inspired leadership. Our audiences will leave the theatre with a twinkle in their eye and their face full of laughter."

Martin Burke was last seen in Lyric's 2014 production of THE ODD COUPLE, and will be seen in Lyric's upcoming production of FULLY COMMITTED. Burke's other credits include ZACH Theatre's productions of THE SANTALAND DIARIES, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, and MOTHERS AND SONS. Burke has been named the Austin Chronicle's Best Actor in 2010, 2013, and 2015. Emily Skinner will play the show's title character, the Chaperone. Skinner has been seen in Lyric's productions of BIG FISH (Sandra Bloom), A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (Charlotte Malcolm), and DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID (Ursula). Skinner was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in SIDE SHOW.

Other members of the cast include Casey ElizaBeth Gill as Janet Van De Graff, Monte Riegel Wheeler as Aldolfo, Mandy Jiran as Mrs. Tottendale, and Jordan Beall as Robert Martin. The cast is rounded out by Vince Leseney, Lexi Windsor, Chad Anderson, Sheridan McMichael, Eric McNaughton, Kai Daly, Anna Uzele, Mattie Joyner, Alexander H. Miller, Kaitlin Nelson, and Patrick Nowak.

Lyn Cramer will direct and choreograph this production. David Andrews Rogers will music direct this production. Other members of the creative team include Jeffrey Meek as costume designer, Helena Kuukka as lighting designer, Anthony Risi as Sound Designer, and Courtney Strong as props designer.
