Like Golden Girls meets Steel Magnolias, the characters are truly "characters." When the biggest highlight in your life for the past 30 years has been your weekly bridge night out with the "girls," what do you do when one of your foursome inconveniently dies?

If you're these three southern ladies from Birmingham, you do the most daring thing you've ever done. You "borrow" the ashes from the funeral for one last card game, and the wildest, most exciting night of your lives involves a police raid, a stripper, and a whole new way of finding the fun of truly living.

A winner of AACT's NewPlayFest, this comedy broke box office records in its premiere production.

Lobby Artist - Sam Echols

The lobby artist during the run of EXIT LAUGHING will be Sam Echols.
Sam began his study of painting and drawing with Dick and Edith Goetz in Oklahoma City, and was encouraged by them to study during three summers with their mentor Henry Hensche, at the Cape School in Provincetown, Massachusetts. He then spent twelve years in New York City, studying at the Art Students League and the New York Academy of Art.

His major interest in painting and drawing has been portraiture, attempting to capture the essence of the model through the relationships of color, value and shape. The same challenge of relationships exists in still life and landscape.

Sam Echols has specialized in portraiture oil painting for over 30 years and has worked to capture the likeness, personality, and mood of his models. Sam is passionate about representing the vibrancy of his subjects by painting from life. He does not rely on photos and in fact will only accept commissions when the subject is willing to sit.
To get an idea of what it is like to sit for a portrait and to see Sam's artistic skills in action, you are invited to observe the process from start to finish at Gallery One during the Paseo First Friday Gallery Walk each month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sam paints adults, children, and couples wearing anything from formal or casual clothing to whimsical costumes.

Perhaps you have a loved one, project, business, church, hobby or social event to celebrate with an amazing portrait.

In the past, portraits were reserved for titans of industry, socialites and royalty. Today it is a way of showing your individuality and personality. What hobby or interest are you passionate about and how can Sam incorporate your passion onto canvas?
For affordable commissions, call Sam Echols at 405-946-1386.
