When Celine’s preplanned pregame plans go awry, she’s left alone at the Red Hook Lobster Pound with her only company being a bartender from her past and friend-of-a-flaky-friend J. The drinks and conversation flow as the trio gets to know each other, but something seems weird about J… A play about those weird nights in your late 20s where you’d talk to anyone to feel less alone.
poolsides was commissioned by the pebble collective as a part of their Red Hook Lobster Pound Commission. Out of nearly 100 playwrights, jose sebastian alberdi was selected to write a play to take place in the Red Hook Lobster Pound in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
This expedited play development process seeks to bring early career theater artists out from behind music stands in workshops and readings and into a rehearsal room aiming for live performance. Over the course of 3 months this play was written, workshopped, and rehearsed in preparation for a short run at the Red Hook Lobster Pound.
