Voices of Manahatta at Church of the Ascension

Voices of Ascension joins forces with the Pulitzer Prize-winning Raven Chacon, the acclaimed International Contemporary Ensemble, and the Lenape-led Eagle Project for Voices of Mannahatta—an immersive musical exploration of the history and land of Mannahatta Island. The evening features Chacon’s Voiceless Mass, written for organ and spaces of worship, the US premiere of Juno Award-winning Cris Derksen’s Triumph of the Euro-Christ, and the world premiere of Holy Ground, a multimedia choral work by Danielle Olana Jagelski. Blending Indigenous voices, contemporary choral traditions, and visionary new works, this program embodies the intersection of music, land, and history in a powerful, one-night-only experience.
