About the Artists & Works-in-Progress
The artists will present a range of dance works-in-progress exploring the VSPS 2025 theme, NO BORDERS, NO HIERARCHIES. The works will explore themes of personal freedom and self-expression in the face of societal constraints (Maryam Malmir; Riverside, CA), human autonomy and freedom of movement (Jean-Paul Mehansio; Grand Bassam, Ivory Coast, WA), feeling trapped in the emptiness and frustration of a monotonous, unfulfilling routine (Israel Javier Hernandez Montaño; Pachuca, Hidalgo, MX), and universal womanhood, nature, and life's cyclical, borderless rhythms (Shoko Tamai; NYC).
