Truth Future Bachman at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater

Truth Future Bachman returns to Joe’s Pub in a one-of-a-kind homecoming performance. The "rising-star nonbinary composer" (Playbill), composer, vocalist, and writer is hailed by The New York Times as "musically and vocally rich," and praised by Vulture for their "golden-voiced, soulful vocals.”

This special event showcases music from Truth’s anthology of queer/trans superhero musicals, Shapeshifters, and original choreography by some of NYC’s finest talent. Joined by several of NYC’s most innovative dancers and choreographers, Truth will bring the music of Shapeshifters to life through dynamic movement and dance.

From its beginnings at Joe's Pub in 2019 to its annual premieres at Lincoln Center (Luna & the Starbodies, SKYWARD: An Endling Elegy, and Second Sight), Shapeshifters has become a defining work in queer musical theater. Weaving three of the most compelling cultural threads of our moment: musical theater, gender fluidity, and superhero sci-fi parables, Shapeshifters is a celebration of risk, transformation, and embracing the hero within.
