About the Show

The Seven Gods explores the myth of Shichifukujin (The Seven Lucky Gods), revered figures in Japanese culture believed to bring good fortune. The gods are confronted with an impossible choice when a young girl pleads for their help to save her mother. Bound by a sacred law to not interfere with human fate, they must face their emotions and decide whether to break the law or uphold it.

This performance tells the story through movement and expression, using minimal dialogue to convey deep emotions and universal themes of morality, choice, and fate.

About Edamovement Lab

Edamovement Lab was founded by three passionate artists—Tamaki Horibe, Ryoka Matsumoto, and Fuka Kojima—with the mission of conveying Japanese culture through movement rather than words. As artists living in New York, they seek to break traditional boundaries by using their unique perspective and experiences to create innovative performances that speak to audiences from all backgrounds.

With The Seven Gods, Edamovement Lab blends traditional Japanese mythology with modern movement-based expression, creating a new form of art that transcends language and cultural barriers.
