Join the Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Corps Symphonic Band for The Roaring Music of Women: A Tribute to the Iconic Edie Windsor, an evening of music celebrating music by women and of course our beloved Edie Windsor! Hosted by Edie's wife Judith M. Kasen-Windsor, the program features:
- Ethyl Smyth's suffragette anthem, March of the Women
- Dolly Parton's 9 to 5
- The world premiere of a percussion feature by Gwen-Marie Lerch
- Tango, for saxophone ensemble, by Karen Street
- Chen Yi's Spring Festival with guest conductor Kimberly Roof - and more!
The concert will also feature a performance by the 2018 LGBAC High School Musician Concerto Competition and Scholarship winner, August Haller, an 18 year old Senior at Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn
Finally, the LGBAC will also present its newly dedicated Edie Windsor Profile in Leadership Award to former New York City Council Speaker, Christine Quinn. Don't miss this exciting concert highlighting the important contributions women have made to music! #roaringlgbac
