Join us UNDER THE SEA as The JC Players proudly presents... THE LITTLE MERMAID!

The JC Players, a Queens, NY-based community theater group will go Under the Sea this summer, presenting the joyous family-friendly production that follows the story of Ariel, a young mermaid who falls in love with a human prince, and yearns for more than what the sea provides. Deftly directed by the beloved Queens favorite, Barbara Auriemma, with musical direction by the nimble and gifted Frank Auriemma, choreography by the creative Christine Hinz and stage management by the brilliant Julia Marshall, The Little Mermaid will provide a music-filled romp through both sea and land, in a show filled with crabs, kings, princes and, of course, mermaids, sure to make audience members young and old smile, laugh and applaud.

The experienced and accomplished cast of this production, which includes some Queens community theater favorites and others new to the local theater scene, is led by the extraordinary Michelle Meditz, in the role of Ariel, who brings Ariel's voice and spirit to life. Also in top form is the tremendous Charles P. Hinz as Eric. The sensational Andrés Luke Caamal illustrates the combination of tough fatherly love and tenderness as everyone's favorite father, King Triton. Accompanying Ariel on her escapades are the marvelous musical maestro David Odukoya as Sebastian and the hilarious Bianca Zelaya as Scuttle. Among the production's younger cast members is the entertaining Daniel Brosky, who plays Ariel's closest companion, Flounder. For comic relief, The Little Mermaid turns to its chef extraordinaire, Chef Louis, played by the multi-dimensional Christine Hinz.

But The Little Mermaid wouldn't be complete without its evil triumverate: the sea witch, Ursula, played by the amazing Alicia Brosky, a JC Players regular, and her trusted eels, Flotsam, portrayed by the phenomenal Jen Silverman and Jetsam, played by the remarkable Reilly Hinz.

Rounding out the cast are the outstanding Joseph Montano as Grimsby and the fantastic Charles Hinz as the Pilot.

Ariel's mersisters, portrayed by a set of six exceptional talents, each bringing a distinctive personality to their roles, are played by Nydia Blackshear, Megan Cabranes, Caroline D’Ambrosio, Alyssa Rivera, Alina Robin and Lisa Vecchione.

A production like The Little Mermaid wouldn't be complete without the expertise and care of the ensemble, which can go from playing sailors to sea creatures to chefs, and includes Diane Close, Craig Ledger, Scott Marshall, Yves Romain, Maureen Ruggiero, Logan Shornick, Kenneth Vuong and Jessica Weiss.

With costumes by the wonderous Amy Ellis and props by the ever-inventive Chris Brosky and Sandra Davis, this is sure to be a local hit that families across New York City will love.

The production will be held at two Queens locations. The Glendale-Maspeth United Methodist Church at 66-14 Central Ave. in Glendale will host the first weekend of shows, on Friday, August 2 at 8 p.m., Saturday, August 3 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 4 at 3 p.m. The following weekend, shows will take place at the Community United Methodist Church, at 75-27 Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village on Saturday, August 10 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 11 at 3 p.m.

Doors will open a half hour before showtime. Tickets are $25 for adults and $22 for seniors and children and are payable by cash or check at the door. Children under 4 are not permitted in the theater. For tickets, please call Randi Marshall at 917-647-7526 or email randi817@hotmail.com.
