The Juniors at Bank Street Theater

A class of high school juniors are tasked with a simple Home Ec assignment: parent a sack of flour for a week or fail. When the flour babies begin dying one by one, the students stop at nothing to ensure that they, and the pretend children they bore, are the last ones standing. A play with war, carnage, and genocide, The Juniors is a pitch black comedy about the ambitious and cut-throat world of high school Home Economics and the lengths we'll go to in order to protect what we think is ours.

Driven by an initiative to produce works written by and directed by artists of color, the School of Drama has expanded this commitment to include at least one production per season in which artists of the global majority are predominantly represented in all roles in front and behind the footlights. Since 2017, those productions have included Jordana De La Cruz's production of While We Wait and last year’s world premiere production of Glass-n-Mirrors, written by two School of Drama graduates, featuring direction by Candis C. Jones. 

We are thrilled to welcome back Melissa Crespo, Associate Artistic Director of Syracuse Stage, and a graduate of MFA in Directing program.
