Live! From New York… it’s The Chicago Party!
The Chicago Party resurrects the 1982 UHF public-access television variety show.
In an attempt to evolve from a post-disco era, the CopHerBox II nightclub hosts packaged electronic soul groups, r&b singers, and punk funk bands. Local specialty acts and skits accompanied the music, crafting an entertaining (and occasionally absurd) peak into Saturday nights in the club.
The Chicago Party soundtrack is rooted in remixes of the Numero Group compilation of tracks from the original show. Composed by digital artist and Chicago native Beep Iams (bpms), the music bridges the many dance music genres that are iconic to Chicago.
Featuring contortion by Topher Bousquet, burlesque circus puppetry by Juanita Cardenas & Cheeky Lane, dance by Brigitte Madera, Jonathan McDonald, and The Unknown Dancers, aerial by RAVEN, burlesque by Emily Shepard, acrobatics by Team Circus Duo, and surprise guests!
The Chicago Party debuts on April 19th at The Slipper Room in New York City. Doors open at 7pm with a music set by bpms, and the show begins at 8pm.
