TAKE ROOT, now in its 12th season, nurtures dance artists at established stages in their careers, pairing them in a split bill or full evening-length program. This monthly series supports dance makers experimentation and growth with support to present their work to the public. Take Root will present 12 aesthetically diverse artists among seven performances Jan-June 2021.About the WorkDaniel Gwirtzman Dance Company will premiere the dance film Dandelion. Hearty, tenacious, and resilient, dandelionsa symbol for the perseverance to get through difficulty and overcome challengescan grow practically anywhere. A crack of sidewalk is enough to shoot through. "We need long roots now more than ever, to dig in our heels deeply, to stay connected and part of a community, says choreographer, performer, and filmmaker Daniel Gwirtzman. "Positive energy and hope needs to proliferate and spread, conquering hate, divisiveness, inequality and injustice."WELCOME BACK is a dance-theatre drama that offers a look into the Baira familys trailer park quarantine in a small, rural Michigan town. This cinematic experience of parenthood, pandemic life and socio-political division slips between the real and the fantastical as they push, pull and wrestle with it all.Available May 21 - July 31, 2021
