When the devout Joan begins to doubt her faith, she dives head first into the world of casual sex. Through threesomes and foot fetishes, she must compensate for her lack of sex education but is confronted by dismal sexual healthcare in the US. An atmosphere in which faith gets freaky takes the audience on a journey that climaxes... well, when Joan does.

Abigail Jensen

Joan

Abigail Jensen (she/her) is an ex-Catholic from St. Louis, Missouri, now based in New York City. She is a playwright and actor, returning to the role of Joan following the show’s premiere in Glasgow and run in Edinburgh last year. Her play Roxanne Takes the Bronx Bound One Train was recently part of the Secret Theatre’s Act One: One Act Festival. Always a traveler, she works as a Marketing and Development Assistant at Dorset Theatre Festival in Vermont.

Jasmine Louis

Stage Manager

Jasmine Louis (she/her) is a first-generation American born to Haitian parents. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from The University of the Arts with a BFA in Acting (2019). She’s been in various productions since, including A Short Life of Trouble, Ogygia, and Mother’s Day. After a short hiatus from theatre, Jasmine is back and is glad to join this hilarious yet heartful production as the Stage Manager! Jalen Ford

Jalen Ford is a theatre-lover in New York City. He graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Drama and Theatre Arts. He is now studying at the Atlantic School of Acting and living that classic NYC life making ends meet as an intern and barista

Jess Pace

Cast

Jess Pace is so thrilled to be a part of this production of Sex Diaries of an Ex-Catholic! They are a non-binary NJ/NY based actor who graduated from Montclair State with a BFA in Acting and is currently working at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick. She was recently in readings of new works, playing Blythe in I Have Friends! by Pablo Ceja and Leo in Leo and the Misfits by William Strauss and Nadiyah Quander. They also recently stage managed a new play The Waiting Room by Vel Grande that premiered at the Dream Up Festival for Theater for the New City. Hopefully everyone can learn something from Joan by trying something new and living life with more hope for the future!
