Rough Trade announced today that PVA, Wiki, and Hotline TNT will headline indieballroom Vol III, the fourth and final event from the Rough Trade Music Series at Rockefeller Center on Sunday, October 22 at the Rainbow Room at 7:00 PM. indieballroom Vol III marks the last event in the 2023 series which featured multiple performances at the Rainbow Room and the second annual indieplaza outdoor music festival.
With just 300 tickets available, at just $25 each, at the art deco, 65th floor Rainbow Room, indieballroom shows will feature three artists, two stages, one ballroom, with a full bar, complete with jaw-dropping views across this remarkable city and beyond.
PVA’s debut album carries that same energy from the live circuit, while also building out a holistic world full of texture and heart. Blush is rich with industrial-sized beats that pack a heavyweight punch, jagged punk spirit, and moments of hushed contemplation from Harris’ poetic lyrics. It sprints tirelessly throughout, linking influences including Portishead, PC Music, Laurie Anderson, and cult rave-pop duo The Pom-Poms with ease. The album was produced by the band alongside friends Ben Romans-Hopcraft (Warmduscher) and Jamie Neville (Pumarosa) over a two week period at Neville’s home studio in South London. They then mixed the record at Fold, the club hidden away on a trading estate in East London. One place intimate, another industrial; this is PVA’s world.
Wiki has become a fixture of New York City Hip Hop since, at 17 years old, he founded the boundary defying group Ratking, whose aggressive style represented a new generation of city kids and artists, hungry for innovation and raw energy. When painting lyrical pictures of New York scenes one gets a sense of Wiki’s skill as a story teller and visionary. He has solidified his role in carrying the torch for NYC’s master MC’s; representing for the freaks, weirdos and underbelly culture.
Hotline TNT’s second LP and an endlessly romantic testament to reaching for something that slips forever out of grasp. The byproduct of Anderson’s decades-long quest to pin down the surging sound long in his head, Hotline TNT has come to notice in the last four years through loose association with a feverish surge of shoegaze revivalism. And Hotline TNT indeed trucks in the touchstones you might expect: skywriting guitars that bathe in fluorescent hazes of distortion, blown-out drums that pound as though they’re trying to escape a concrete box, and honeyed vocals that try to rise above the chaotic mess in true-to-life mimesis.
