A MOVEMENT THEATRE PERFORMANCE THAT EXPLORES A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE AS THEY NAVIGATE FEAR, DENIAL, RAGE AND RELEASE, IN AN ATTEMPT TO REKINDLE THEIR LOVE.
(New York, NY) – The How (“The Vyuga Project, ” “Hunger,” “Vandals”), has announced that it will present a devised movement piece titled My Favorite Person, directed by POLINA IONINA (“What We Do,” “5 Hour Piece”), running August 19th at 8:30pm, August 20th at 8:30pm, August 21st at 4pm at HERE, 145 6th Ave. (Enter on Dominick, 1 block south of Spring.)
Can love exist if it is not rooted in truth? Witness a couple move together and apart in an attempt to see things as they are, navigating a journey they hope will pull them closer to loving each other... or closer to loving themselves. These bodies call into question the needs of the self, and ask, What is the cost of neglect? Can you love someone if you forsake yourself? What lies at the end of all that sacrifice? Is it love? Is it pain? Is it anything you can hold onto?
The cast of MY FAVORITE PERSON features DAVID GLOVER (“The Fever,” “In the Penal Colony,”) and TANA SIROIS (“Garden Of Delights,” “Broad Comedy,”), with set design and assistant direction by WERONIKA HELENA WOZNIAK, original composition by TYLER AGNEW, and lighting design by ZACK LOBEL.

The How is an international ensemble of movers, actors, and musicians from all over the world. The How’s mission is to create a place for audiences and artists to be challenged by a multiplicity of viewpoints, forms, and stories. We believe in taking the emotional temperature of the world and manifesting it in physical form. We’ve performed at The Tank, IRT Theater, Dixon Place, Culture Lab LIC, Rubulad, Montgomery Gardens in Brooklyn, and The Unruly Collective in Brooklyn. We seek to unlock the body so that it can drive us towards truthful storytelling. We create collaborative theater from the heart.
This production is a part of SubletSeries: Co-op, HERE’s curated rental program, which provides artists with subsidized space and equipment, as well as a technical liaison.
