ABOUT THIS SHOW
‘‘Once I was involved with a well-known artist. I had liked his work and followed his career. Learning he was single, and where he hung out—he mentioned these things in an interview in The New York Times—I considered stalking him. The scheduling was complicated, though. I resigned myself to being more upfront about wanting to meet him. Since it was almost February, I decided to send him a valentine…’’
This is the story, relayed in spoken text and in song, of what happens when two strangers are united by a paper heart.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Master Michael Quinn writes personal essays and has created performance pieces out of many of them, reading the stories aloud and ‘‘illustrating’’ them not with pictures, but with songs. Performances include Bedridden, Last Call, Boo, and Kiss & Tell. He studies voice with Dave Hall, and is working on a memoir.
Visual artist and musician Jeff Allyn Szwast is the primary composer/performer/producer of Brooklyn avant-indie projects Giving The Table A Name and The BERiBERi, with LPs, singles, and music videos that conjure off-kilter imagery, instrumentation, and visuals. Jeff is recording his eighth LP and preparing his fourth film score for Iris, a feature by Diana Rodriguez.
