Get ready for an unforgettable night celebrating Caribbean culture, theater, and music!

On Saturday, Nov. 23, at 9:30 PM, The Tank Theatre in New York City will host a unique stage reading of Illegal Alien, a captivating new play that takes audiences on a journey through the heart of the Trinidad & Tobago Carnival.

Written by playwright Jordana Persad, Illegal Alien follows Dar, an alien who takes on human form and embarks on an extraordinary journey through the colorful and vibrant festivals of the Caribbean. As Dar experiences the highs and lows of human emotions and connects with the people he meets, the play explores the deep cultural significance of Carnival and the ways in which it brings people together through joy, music, and celebration.

The evening will feature a dynamic ensemble cast, including Swavian Loney as Dar the Alien, alongside Ryan O’Neil, Ronald Furlow, David Rey Martinez, Dev Bharath, Khalid Hamid, Lavern Williams, Mariah Harilall, Mariel Grullon, Michael Roberts, Alicia Maraj, and Jordana Jason, among others. The production will be presented by the Caribbean Theatre Repertory’s Don’t Pass the Peppa Sauce troupe, known for their comedic and heartfelt performances.

Following the stage reading, audiences will have the chance to participate in an engaging talkback and Q&A session with Persad, where she will discuss the themes of the play, its cultural significance, and the process behind its creation. The evening promises to be a celebration of Caribbean arts and storytelling, with the added bonus of live music and the infectious rhythms of a DJ set to keep the energy high.

As the night draws to a close, attendees will be treated to a dose of humor, as the cast of Don’t Pass the Peppa Sauce performs one of their comedic sketches, bringing their own brand of Caribbean wit and charm to the stage.

This event promises not only a captivating theatrical experience but also a chance to connect with Caribbean culture in a fun and immersive way. From the rum punch to the lively performances, Illegal Alien offers a perfect blend of theater, music, and community celebration.
