"I Can’t Make Sense" Premieres in New York City on January 30th, 2025:
A New Play by Vogue Giovanna Giambri, a Dark Comedy About Mommy Issues, Infused with Live Jazz and Performances by Tei Shi
New York, NY — This January, Vogue Giambri will present the New York premiere of her powerful new play, I Can’t Make Sense, at the private Studio 17 in the historic Flatiron District. The venue has recently been reopened by Shareen Mitchell and Ruby McCollister.
In I Can’t Make Sense, Jaz loses her mother while living on a tour bus with musicians. The fever-dream full length play spirals into the emotional and psychological unknown – a painful, comical, raw therapeutic endeavor that’s necessary for Jaz – a cathartic journey of healing and confronting her demons.
Following a sold-out run in London last winter, this production delves into the journey of a young woman navigating the complexities of her past and present, using the complex chords of jazz to help address themes of addiction, loss, liberation, and female agency.
The New York run is scheduled for January 30 to February 2, 2025, with five performances at Studio 17, which seats only 60 guests. Given the show's previous success and the theater's limited seating, tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
Join us for an unforgettable theatrical event beginning January 30th.
