Come along for the ride in this new musical about Manhattan's favorite green oasis, Central Park! Originally written in Russian by composer Dina Pruzhansky with libretto by Arnold Shvetsov, Central Park the Musical premiered in 2013 at the JCC Manhattan (76th and Amsterdam) to two sold-out performances. Recently translated into English and adapted for an American audience, the musical is back at the JCC for one-day-only with performances for the entire family. (Ages 4 and up).
Central Park features an intergenerational cast of professional actors, including 8-year-old Special Music School student (and young Philip from the popular American TV show The Americans) Gabriel Gurevich. Many of the show's enchanting songs are based on the poetry of beloved children's authors, including A.A. Milne and iconic Russian and Russian Jewish poets. The musical takes you on a magical ride through Central Park to historic landmarks, majestic castles, famous ball fields, landmark monuments and other not-to-be-missed sights.
The plot twists and turns, the sets and costumes delight, the choreography uplifts, and the lyrical melodies will have you singing the catchy tunes long after you've left the theater.
