Open Variations Theater is proud to present a multimedia reimagining of Bekah Brunstetter's wonderful 'little' tragicomedy.
Melody finds herself in a new role that she doesn't quite fit into - that of a good little housewife. Before she can figure out if that's what she really wants, her husband, Craig, dies on a business trip. Grappling with loss for the first time in her life, Melody has to come to terms with her disapproving mother-in-law, Hope, who presents herself as an 'expert' on grief. Melody also has to deal with Craig's paralegal, Brad, who is struggling with the loss of his mentor as well as his connection with the new widow. This multimedia reimagining drops us into a world where we can experience the surreal state of dealing with grief, and the expectations we place around it. Melody takes us on a crash-course through love, loss and the ways in which we cope and come to terms with our reality.
The Chain Theatre is at 312 West 36th Street, New York, NY.
