ABOUT AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER:
While serving in the US Navy as an air traffic controller, singer/songwriter Dave Munro sent home demos of his songs. This was the first chapter of Air Traffic Controller. Over the next decade, Dave created timeless and classic indie-folk-pop music that is heartfelt, luscious, and authentic. From the Boston scene, the band released four critically acclaimed albums and toured steadily with a charismatic group now made up of Dave Munro, drummer Adam Salameh, bassist Joe Campbell, guitarist Bobby Borenstein, vocalist/keytarist Emi McSwain, and multi-instrumentalist Steve Scott.
Dash was mostly written ahead of the pandemic, but one song was written during lockdown, "Anybody Got A Light?". The band also insisted on including a couple unrecorded songs Dave had written for their beloved 2nd album NORDO; “Walk” and bonus track “Kissed You In The Morning”.
Listeners have been patiently waiting for the band's fifth studio release, which they wrote and demoed for several months. With over 300 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify alone, Air Traffic Controller is ready to launch their next album Dash. During the pandemic, the band faced several delays and hardships, but they continued to collaborate, remotely at times, to bring the next chapter of Air Traffic Controller to the world. Featuring Boston producer Dan Cardinal (Darlingside, Henry Jamison, Josh Ritter, Ballroom Thieves), with Seth Kasper and Air Traffic Controller, the new album was recorded in Dimension Sound Studios. It wasn't about matching up with past Air Traffic Controller albums, or to meet expectations. Instead, the group’s formulas were often set aside to allow each member to bring their own style. Nevertheless, if you like stories, charm, nostalgia, and hooks from Air Traffic Controller, Dash will captivate you from the very first line.
Air Traffic Controller has received support from all over the world. Vanyaland called them an evolution forward with "crafty alt-pop, an expansion of sound and depth, catchy hooks." One Stop Record Shop in the UK describes them as "equal parts fascinating and brilliant" with a touch of CHVRCHES, a hint of Pulp and a smattering of Death Cab For Cutie.
