terraNOVA Collective, 2013 Caffe Cino Award Recipient from the New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, and Producing Artistic Director, Jennifer Conley Darling are excited to announce terraNOVA Rx, a unique prescription for your health, four exciting shows playing in repertory as part of their 11th Season. terraNOVA Rx is an extension of terraNOVA's Groundbreakers Playwrights Group which is entering its 5th year. terraNOVA Rx includes TRANQUIL by Andrew Rosendorf, directed by Lucie Tiberghien; WINK by Jen Silverman, directed by Jessi D. Hill; DEATH FOR SYDNEY BLACK by Leah Nanako Winkler, directed by Kip Fagan; and the final production will be ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE by J. Julian Christopher, directed by Jose Zayas. terraNOVA RX will play November 6th through December 15th, 2013 at IRT Theater (located in the Archive Building at 154 Christopher St, New York).
Traditionally, plays developed through Groundbreakers are showcased in the bi-annual Groundworks New Play Series where staged readings are presented to a general and industry audience. Through terraNOVA Rx, playwrights are offered an extended experience: a workshop production, a longer run of 10 performances, and the opportunity to develop their play in front of audience. As part of terraNOVA's commitment to develop the career of their Groundbreakers playwrights, industry professionals and the general public are invited to these productions, a further realization of the playwright's vision.
On presenting the Caffe Cino Award to terraNOVA Collective, which includes a grant, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation spoke about the company, "[terraNOVA Collective's] focus on combining theatre artists and artists from other disciplines strives to lead theatre into a new and exciting realm. They are dedicated members of the community who actively advocate for Off-Off-Broadway and seek new opportunities for the community as a whole. They are among the most respected companies in the community, continually reaching for the highest production standards and presenting intriguing and provocative work. It is not surprising that terraNOVA has become the home some of the most exciting voices in New York theatre."
