terraNOVA to Present ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE, 12/1-15

terraNOVA Collective and Producing Artistic Director, Jennifer Conley Darling will present ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE by J. Julian Christopher (Man Boobs), directed by Jose Zayas (Resident Director Repertorio Espanol). ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE by J. Julian Christopher is part of terraNOVA Rx, four workshop productions, including DEATH FOR SYDNEY BLACK by Leah Nanako Winkler, playing in repertory as part of their 11th Season. ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE will play a two week limited engagement from Sunday, December 1st through Sunday, December 15th, 2013 at IRT Theater (located in the Archive Building at 154 Christopher St, New York). Opening Night is Saturday, December 7.

Julian Christopher on this shocking and challenging script for over 18 months, including two developmental readings as part of our Groundworks New Play Series," remarks Darling. "Julian's script addresses one of the most taboo subjects of modern society: gay men actively seeking to acquire HIV. It's an unflinching glimpse into a subculture that is rarely talked about, and this creative team exposes the subject with sensitivity and humor. At terraNOVA, we are committed to producing provocative work, and with ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE, we're presenting our boldest production yet."

Chance Stevens has a high-end job, classic good looks, and the attention of anyone he wants in the NYC gay scene. Yet something is missing in his life that he cannot live without. He embarks on a dangerous journey of self-discovery only to find the very best and the very worst of a new community of which he so desperately wants to be a part.

Featuring Charles A Callaghan, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Nic Grelli, Sandor Juan, and Kyle Metzger.

With scenic design by Jason Simms, costume design by Stephanie Levin, lighting design by Seth Reiser and sound design by David Margolin Lawson. Becca Pickett is the production stage manager.
