taxdeductible theatre is proud to announce the 22nd installment of The Dare Project; world premiere ten minute plays, written on a dare. The June 26th performance will include the 100th short play presented by the company, now in its eighth year.
Here's how it works: Each writer is dared by our community to write a ten-minute play. The dare can be anything-a genre, a line of dialogue, a character, whatever idea they want to commission the company to develop. They put their dares into a hat, and the writers for the next production each take a shot of tequila, reach into the hat and draw their dares.
Once dared, the company has a month to develop the scripts, and then another month to rehearse. Then, ready or not, the play is presented in front of a packed house as a one-night-only event.
In the 22nd installment, the company will reach a milestone: the 100th original short work. This achievement marks eight years of passion on the part of the writers, actors, directors, and audiences. The Dare Project series remains vital because it continues to produce exciting theatre.
