Zipper Theater Hosts 'Joe Bean' On 4/14

Come witness "Joe Bean," a new musical composed by Mark Nichols, as it makes it's New York debut after an incredibly well received run in Seattle.  Bradley Dean (Spamalot, Company) heads up a cast of truly awe-inspiring rock performers as they tell the story of Joe Bean, a man whose faith in the universe is put to the test.  The reading will be held at The Zipper Theater, 336 West 37th street, on April 14th at 2pm with a full rock band fronted by Ethan Popp (Tarzan, Aida).  This show is guaranteed to be unlike any you've ever seen and this concert reading version is absolutely free to the public, so check it out.

Joe Bean is a man of great faith.  Not faith in God, or religion, but faith that the universe will take care of him, as it always has.  He has the house, the car, the wife, and the children.  How could the future hold anything less?  Unfortunately, the universe, as it often does, has other plans.  We follow Joe as this neo-psychedelic, post-modern, rock fable is laid before us by a group of players who lead us through this dystopian clown world that lies somewhere between hippie and punk. Joe carefully balances on the line between perseverance and desperation as everything he cares about is taken away. These tests will lead Joe to the edge, and as he stands there, staring into the void, he will truly learn what means to have faith.

"Joe Bean" will be performed at the Zipper Theater, 336 W 37th St. New York, NY 10018. Monday, April 14th, 2008. 2PM. The music is by Mark Nichols, book & lyrics by Mark Nichols and Bob McAllister, and directed by Brad Standley.
