"Two Cousins and a Pizza" - a new one-act comedy by Anthony J. Piccione - will receive its world premiere on February 9th and 10th at 6:15pm and February 12th at 8:30pm at the Hudson Guild Theater - located on 441 West 26 Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues) - as part of the 2017 Winterfest Theatre Festival running from January to March 2017.
This new one-act comedy tells the story of two cousins who grew up together in New York City and bonded over pizza, but have since grown apart. After moving to Chicago a few months ago, Johnny's cousin - Mikey - returns home to visit family at a local pizza joint. However, during the visit, Johnny notices a major change in Mikey's eating habits, prompting a tense discussion between the two over the proper way to eat your pizza.
The play was written by Anthony J. Piccione, who recently made his NYC debut as a playwright when his one-act play "The End of the Line at the End" made its debut at Manhattan Repertory Theatre in October 2016. Additionally, his work has previously been staged at several Connecticut venues, while his columns and reviews are frequently published at On Stage (www.onstageblog.com). He is a recent graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University, where "Two Cousins and a Pizza" first received a staged reading in April 2016.
The play will be directed by Christopher Michaels, who made his NYC directorial debut this past summer, when he directed the award-winning world premiere of "The Commuters or A Cautionary Tale About The Port Authority" at the 2016 Strawberry Theatre Festival, and is also the founder and resident director of Calendar Boys Productions. The cast will feature Chris-Collins Pisano - a graduate from CCM's Musical Theatre program most recently seen in Westchester Broadway Theatre's production of "Saturday Night Fever" - portraying the role of Johnny, and Jordan Silver - an Ithaca College graduate who was recently seen in "The Wrong Box" at the National Opera Center - portraying the role of Mikey.
This play is approximately 15 minutes long, and will be followed by 4 other short shows. Purchasing a ticket will allow you to see all shows in the same slot one after the other for a total time of 90 minutes. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2725443.
