CONCRETE TIMBRE & D'MOISELLES in association with the Paris-based La Compagnie Cosmopolite du Pierrot Lunaire, and Theater for the New City, Crystal Field (Artistic Director) are pleased to announce the world premiere production of COQ TÔT, directed by Sylvaine Hinglais, Manuela Lechler, Jasmina Sinanovic, and Ann Warren. COQ TÔT will play a one week limited engagement at the Theater for New City (155 First Avenue, NYC), as part of the Dream Up Festival. Performances begin tonight, August 21.
CONCRETE TIMBRE & D'MOISELLES will also be presenting AGE OF PAIN(E), a concert presentation of short works in an evening of enlightenment in commemoration of the Battle of Brooklyn featuring multidisciplinary compositions to inspire your free thinking for two performances only at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn Friday, August 23 at 8:30 p.m and August 24 at 8:30 p.m. COQ TÔT is a mini-homage to Jean Cocteau with a mélange of 6 pieces inspired by his life and work that show his revulsion against the meaninglessness of contemporary life and civilization, his delights in witty and biting social commentary, his daring severing of the long unquestioned identity of speaker and actor, the exploration of truth, and wonder of seeing a melange of shadows created by a lighted spinning sculpture of iconic symbols. Also, Cocteau's scrutiny of the telephone as the perfect prop to explore his ideas, feelings, and formula of human needs and realities in communication as well as his struggle with opium addiction and his complicated love life. We ramble through Cocteau's elegant poetry teeming with fevered imaginings of opium dens, the underworld of masculine desire, and the muddy inferno of WW I trench warfare. It's uniquely suited to our time.Videos
