My Daughter Keeps Our Hammer
by Brian Watkins
Directed by Anthony Reimer
At Under St. Marks Theatre
11/4/10-11/20/10
High Plains-Set on the dark and expansive Colorado plains, this one-man confession tells the story of Jake, a young drifter, who is haunted by a cruel childhood secret that has finally caught up with him.
My Daughter Keeps Our Hammer-Two clashing sisters agree on only one thing: they hate the family sheep, their mother's only friend. In this eerie tale that treads the line between humor and horror, tradition takes a turn for the worse, as the family attempts to domesticate the last remaining member of their former flock and ends up with a tragic twist of fate.
An Evening of One-Acts
by Female Playwrights
At The Red Room Theatre
2/3/11-2/19/11
*Please look out for a call for scripts, director and actor submissions!
*Audition Dates TBA
This project was inspired by our success with our first evening of One Act plays, The Spin Cycle by Jerrod Bogard and the "50/50 by 2020" initiative aimed at inspiring the theatre community to produce work written by female playwrights as often as they produce work written by male playwrights. Wide Eyed loves good theatre no matter who writes it, so we jumped at the chance to help further this initiative. The Trojan Women by Euripides
Translation by Gilbert Murray
Directed by Kristin Skye Hoffmann
At The Kraine Theatre
7/7/11-7/23/11
*Audition Dates TBA
This choice was inspired by our very own roots, our first production, The Medea. Also by Euripides with a translation by Gilbert Murray, Wide Eyed found what we wanted to say in a minimalistic and honest way. We hope to do something similar with The Trojan Women while also demonstrating our growth as theatre artists. We hope you will join us as we tell the story of Hecuba, Cassandra, Helen and all the other surviving women of the Trojan War. Using a neo-futuristic concept we hope to take you on a journey as important today as it was when it was written.
