WP Theater has released the following statement regarding upcoming performances:
All of us at WP Theater put the health and wellbeing of our artists and audiences first. We have been following the development of the global outbreak of COVID-19 with deep concern, and so are taking the drastic step to suspend programming as of March 12 as a proactive measure to protect our community. WP Theater's administrative office will be closed through April 12, and our biennial Pipeline Festival performances are cancelled, effective immediately.
WP is about community, support and uplift, both in times of celebration and in times of difficulty. We are navigating an unprecedented situation in real time, and do not underestimate the way that the cancellations and closures all over the city will impact institutions and the artistic community. In order to live according to our values, we have committed to pay our artists and our administrators throughout this period of closure, and are looking for creative new ways to share work and artistic practice in the weeks to come.
We thank all of you for your support during this time and for your commitment to making space for women+ onstage. We know this is a challenging time, but hope you will consider making a donation to WP if you have the means to do so.
Although the WP Offices will be closed, the WP staff will be working remotely, and will be monitoring info@wptheater.org for your questions, thoughts or concerns. Please feel free to reach out to us.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing our space, work and love for our mission with us, and look forward to coming together soon.
Wishing you good health and peace,
Lisa, Michael and all of us at WP Theater
