Variations Theatre Group will present a rare New York City revival of David Rabe's HURLYBURLY beginning tonight, February 14th, with the Opening Night set for Wednesday, February 19th at The Chain Theatre. The original production of HURLYBURLY took New York by storm in 1984, directed by Mike Nichols. Although the long-running Broadway hit was presented in three acts, David Rabe pared his script into a leaner two-act version for the 2005 Off-Broadway revival starring Ethan Hawke and Bobby Cannavale. It is this revised version which will be presented by Variations Theatre Group by special arrangement with the playwright.

Under the direction of Rich Ferraioli, the cast of HURLYBURLY will feature Deven Anderson (Ghosts of Provincetown, Sandcastles), Jacklyn Collier ("Celebrity Ghost Stories," Coffee to Go), Rachel Cora (Heaven Burns, National Treasure: Book of Secrets), Kirk Gostkowski (Leave Me Behind, The Shape of Things), Chris Harcum (Apostles of Park Slope, American Gun Show), Brandon Scott Hughes ("Deadly Affairs," Below), and Christina Elise Perry (Interviews, Venus & Mona).

Set in the cocaine-and-sex-infused Hollywood Hills of the mid-1980s, HURLYBURLY is a chilling comedy focusing on four men caught in a world of parties, backbiting, lies, and self-obsession in the decade of decadence. But a string of encounters with destiny convinces one of them to dig beneath the surface to discover his soul.

David Rabe's other plays include Streamers, Sticks and Bones (Tony Award, Best Play), The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel, and Boom Boom Room. Rabe penned the screenplays for The Firm, Casualties of War, Streamers, and I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can. Director Rich Ferraioli is Co-Artistic Director of Variations Theatre Group, where he helmed their acclaimed productions of Fool for Love, After the Fall and The Shape of Things.

The performance schedule for HURLYBURLY will be Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 7 PM, with matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 2 PM through March 1st. Tickets are $18 and are available through www.VariationsTheatreGroup.com or by calling 866-811-4111. The Chain Theatre is located at 21-28 45th Road in Long Island City, just ten minutes from Times Square via the 7, E, G, and M trains to Court Square Station.
