Actress/comedian/writer NANCY REDMAN returns to the UnitedSolo Theatre Festival with her 'CLUTTER: I'm Saving My Life and It's Killing Me," a poignant comedy that laughs at obsessions, compulsions and fears, including An Eviction Notice, A Hoarder, Her Clutter, and What Lies Beneath It All. Austin Pendleton, who received the 2010 United Solo Best Directing Award for the show. Two performances only, October 21 & November 19, both at 9 PM, at Theatre Row, 410 West 42 Street.
NANCY REDMAN successfully premiered her solo show last year on the United Solo Theatre Festival and is one of a few performers to be invited back for two encore performances this year.
REDMAN has rightfully earned a place in the top echelon of the nation's comedians. Verbally and physically dexterous - part
Lucille Ball and part
Groucho Marx - her performance is an explosion of silly voices, crazy characters and sharp one liners. The native New Yorker was featured on TV's Girls' Night Out and The
Oprah Winfrey Show. She was a two-time prize winner on America's Funniest People, and "warmed up" audiences for hit shows including The Golden Girls and Designing Women. Redman was a regular performer for years at NYC's Dangerfield's and the Laugh Factory, and audiences in L.A. have seen her at the Comedy Store and L.A.'s Laugh Factory. She has opened shows for numerous show business legends, including
Jackie Mason, Charo,
Chubby Checker, and
Soupy Sales, who pronounced her "the funniest white woman in the world!" Her personal career highlight was entertaining troops in the nation of Bahrain at the time of the first Gulf War.
Director
Austin Pendleton is a highly regarded actor/playwright, and recipient of a 2007 Drama Desk award for A Renaissance Man of the American Theater. He directed the Broadway production of The Little Foxes with
Elizabeth Taylor, and the world premieres of Say Goodnight, Gracie, The Runner Stumbles, and Toys in the Attic at the Pearl Theater. He has directed at the
Steppenwolf Theatre and the
Williamstown Theatre Festival, and was Artistic Director of
The Circle Repertory Theatre in New York. The artist has distinguished himself in dozens of plays on and off-Broadway, and his film credits are equally numerous, with standout performances in Finding Nemo, A Beautiful Mind, Amistad, Guarding Tess, My Cousin Vinny and many more. Last season his musical A Minister's Wife, which he adapted from Shaw's play "Candida," and co-wrote with
Josh Schmidt and
Jan Tranen, enjoyed a highly successful run at the Mitzi Newhouse Theatre at Lincoln Center.
