TinyRhino is UglyRhino's take on the ten-minute play evening. Each month we commission six short plays each including the same five dramatic elements. On the night of the performance, these elements are revealed to the audience as cues to drink. That's right: we've created a theatrical drinking game! This special August installment, part of UglyRhino’s 2012 musical micro-season, will showcase some of the audience’s favorite TinyRhino plays from various months over the past year.

Plays will include This… Body; The Weight of the World by Morgan Gould from May 2012, Vic and Ned Across America by Daniel Kitrosser (resident storyteller for Central Park) from January 2012, The Reoccurring Resurrection of Sweet Latisha Jesus Brown by Patricia Ione Lloyd (New Professional Theatre’s Emerging Playwright Award for her play, Black Tale) from April 2012, Don’t Eat Almonds Off a Dead Guy by Tariq Hamami from July 2011, Occupation by Kyle Warren (#nyc with UglyRhino; Cephalopod at the 2009 FringeNYC) from November 2011, and Punches by Becca Schlossberg (Merrily³ at the Midtown International Theater Festival) from June 2012.

Audience members will be given a list of dramatic elements that have been included in these six plays. These elements might show up at any time, in any order, and in any of the plays! However, when they do show up, you know what that means, drink! Leave the mindless boozing at home: these plays will venture down a darker path than your average drinking game…

This month’s extra special installment of TinyRhino will be on Monday, August 13 at 8pm at the Brooklyn Lyceum (227 4th Avenue at Union Street, Brooklyn). Tickets are $10 at the door, which includes 1 free beer.

TINYRHINO originally premiered in July 2011, and has returned to packed audiences and sold-out crowds since November. This monthly event showcases and supports the work of up-and-coming playwrights, directors, and actors by presenting brand new work each month. TinyRhino has featured young theater artists from The Flea's Bats, Samuel French OOB Festival winners, The Public Theater's Emerging Writers Group and Drama League Directing fellows, just to name a few.

UGLYRHINO is a new way to experience theater. Expanding on our high quality productions, we integrate dynamic arts programming ranging from emerging musicians to warehouse parties. UglyRhino curates affordable evenings with a social atmosphere that capture the inimitable spirit of Brooklyn.
