Tyrone Lowman – having worked in regional theater for years – bursts on the New York scene as a leading African-American playwright with his new play, IF I CAN'T HAVE YOU THEN NOBODY CAN.
Dorian Phillips thought he put his questionable past behind him and started a new life. Today he's a good man – loved by his family and respected by his community. Until his secret of years before comes knocking at his door. The secret in question is a woman who wants what is rightfully hers – Dorian! And she will get him back any way she can. Leaving Dorian's new life in shambles if necessary.
Ty Lowman has become a respected author by taking pages from the bible and writing them in a harsh, modern voice. The acclaim this latest play garnered out-of-town has prompted a New York limited run. "Our productions send a message of encouragement," says Lowman, regardless of their tough subjects and situations.
The Ty Lowman canon includes WHAT KIND OF LOVE IS THIS? about infidelity; LORD, MAKE ME OVER, focusing on one man's drug-fueled inner turmoil; and HE'S STILL A MAN, about a pastor and his own sins of the flesh.
The New York cast includes members of the original production and some new faces: Ron Denson, Alyssa Baines, Casandra King, Eugene Daniels, Taeshia Francis, and Victor Landol as Dorian Phillips
