BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, presents Sleeping Beauty Narrated by David Gonzalez performing on Sunday, November 17 at 1:30PM. Sleeping Beauty is a part of BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center's 2013-2014 Family Theater Season, featuring plays, musicals, puppetry, concerts and dance for all ages.
New York's premier storyteller David Gonzalez is a one-of-a-kind artist who takes the audience on a storied, spoken word, musical journey. In this decidedly modern twist on the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty, Gonzalez uses rhymes inspired by Dr. Seuss, music inspired by the Bach Goldberg Variations, and groovy projected images to create a world in which the sleeping princess is not passive, but is very present in the story. She is strong willed and independent, determined, fierce and smart - and she has more to do than just lie down and wait for her prince. There's more than one side to this story: families are invited to use their imaginations to complete the tale, and find out whether the princess is awakened by true love's kiss - or not! Ages 4 and up.
