Tickets Now On Sale For DUTCHMAN/STOP KISS Presented By Sacred Circle Theatre Company Image

This past week, tickets went on sale for the double-bill of Dutchman by Amiri Baraka and Stop Kiss by Diana Son that Sacred Circle Theatre Company will be presenting in June at The Alchemical in Chelsea.

Sacred Circle, a queer/feminist theatre company based in Bushwick, Brooklyn, announced tickets were on sale on social media. The company also unveiled a promo image designed by Becca Travis. Tickets can be purchased at bit.ly/DutchmanStopKiss

Sacred Circle released a statement explaining why they chose to stage the two plays together as a double-bill. "Both set in New York City, these plays each grapple with the painful ways that racialized and sexualized violence limit the expression of identity in marginalized communities" explained the company. "By presenting these two plays in one night, with one cast, in one room, we hope to create a living legacy of hate crimes in New York City. What toll does this onslaught of violence have on the individual psyches of black people and queer people? And what does it do to the soul of our city?"

Sacred Circle also announced a new director for Dutchman by Amiri Baraka. Denali Thomas, a frequent collaborator of Sacred Circle, said she was excited to step into the role of director. "Dutchman tells a story I know well, a story I have lived every day," she said. Raymond Arnold, Company Leader of Sacred Circle and director of Stop Kiss by Diana Son, said he was "delighted to welcome Denali to the team. She has made a great group of artists into an excellent one."

Dutchman/Stop Kiss features performances from Mia Longenecker, Becca Travis, Dontonio Demarco, Cassandra DeMarco, Éamon Boylan, Craig Porter, Singer Joy, and Sonja Einem as well as an interactive installation curated by Marlee Miller. Both plays feature designs by Sarah Bedrick, choreography by Anise, music by Singer Joy, and dramaturgy by Marlee Miller. Dutchman is directed by Denali Thomas and Stop Kiss by Raymond Arnold. Dutchman was written in 1964 by Amiri Baraka; Stop Kiss was written in 1998 by Diana Son.

Performances will be held at The Lab at The Alchemical at 104 West 14th St in Manhattan. Shows are June 20-23 every night at 7pm. Tickets are available at bit.ly/DutchmanStopKiss
