In this day and age when budgets for Broadway musicals are reaching unprecedented highs and audiences expect to see a spectacle, often the very foundation of the musical - the score- is overlooked. In Broadway For Broke People, a one-night cabaret performance to benefit Theatrical Gems, the music takes center stage.
Broadway For Broke People presents an evening of songs from famous and infamous bigbudget musicals. The songs are stripped of their spectacle and given a chance to shine (or not, as the case may be). The event will be held at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, 61 Christopher Street, on Saturday, April 2 at 9:30 PM.The performer lineup stars Michal Salonia, Kenney M. Green, Carissa Massaro, Tara Novie, Erin O'Neil, and local singer-songwriter Andy Mac, with musical direction by Steven H. Taylor, and introducing the Broadway For Broke People Chorus, a group of young performers making their cabaret debuts. The Chorus features Benjamin Chambers, Caitlin Ferchaw, Seth Price, Ashley Primavera, and Megan Taylor.Videos
